On October 28, 2008, FernsSoft's first application, Ground Speed Calculator was released on the iTunes App Store.

How to use Ground Speed Calculator:
- Start Ground Speed Calculator
- On your map, select 2 points with an easily measured distance along your track
- Measure the distance on your map between these two points
- Enter the distance in the picker wheel with the desired units of measure(NM, KM, SM)
- Start the built in timer when you are over the starting point you want to measure
- When you pass over the ending point of your measured distance, click the Stop button (Start turns to Stop when timer is running)
- Calculated ground speed is then displayed on your screen
- If you need to make a change to your time later, select the little i button above the Reset button and next to the time
- Distance units can be changed on the fly as well and calculations will be automatically updated
